God told Moses, (ethical man/woman): “take up thy rod”: raise our spiritual vibration, activate the chakric centres in the body through daily meditation.
Beneath life’s fleeting pleasures there’s a yearning for something permanent beyond ordinary human consciousness, beyond physicality, time, space and automatically-recurring suffering.
The above scripture — when esoterically understood — provides instruction to such an outcome: a way out of repetitive human misery. When grasped and applied, the hidden message within this scripture — “take up thy rod” — will change our life dramatically for the good. For, like so many scriptures, until we delve beneath their literal interpretations, such life-changing wisdom can remain beyond practical everyday benefit.
Another scripture says “know (experience) ye the Truth (transcendental silence) and this Truth shall set ye (soul) free. In other words, we’re to “know or experience Immortality consciousness now as reality within, for, “Truth” is that state which never changes; Truth is permanent, eternal, joyful — always in Heaven. Here we can see the importance of why God told Moses — you/me — “take up thy rod” or, awaken the spiritual mechanisms along the spinal column through meditational practices thereby “know” our own inner Truth.
Similarly: “take up thy Cross” — “Cross” meaning duality — bring awareness to the duality of good and bad which exists within the egoic mind in need of meditational crucifixion.
Instinctively, we’re each driven to “know” this level of unified divine nature, but “world” conditioning prevents such direct “knowing”.
But, you may well ask, isn’t reading and hearing scripture sufficient? No, it’s not, for, scriptures are presented in symbolised format, they’re not intended to be taken literally, for, scripture doesn’t spell out its hidden meaning — we must seek this wisdom for ourselves. As reading scripture alone doesn’t infuse experiential Truth into consciousness — meaning, intellectual knowledge alone doesn’t alter the state of the soul — individual effort, through one of the various meditational disciplines, is required.
Non-experiencing of soul consciousness — biblical Light — is the single scourge of humanity on the planet today. It’s the single cause of almost every disease known to our species, resulting in depression, alcohol and pharmaceutical drug dependency, etc, not to mention the low-life mind-sets associated with such involuntary spiritual ignorance — involuntary because it’s sub-conscious activity.
How, then, at a practical level, do we “take up thy [our] rod” and “know this Truth which sets us (soul light) free”? Let us examine these last two scriptures more closely with regards to their biblically intended meaning, which is, expansion or transformation of consciousness into Truth, or, suffering into bliss.
Although decoding of scripture’s wisdom is vital in gaining spiritual understanding and guidance, a time comes when we need to put down the books for a period each day — including the Bible — and commence a practical home/closet-based application of scripture: that of knowing our own soul-nature directly. Here, daily meditation is the certain way of knowing such divine status — coming upon our own indwelling Christ Presence thereby purely knowing our Truth essence.
God’s Greatest Creation
When we consider, that, the body is the end organ of the nervous system, which is the end organ of the mind, which is the end organ of God or, the Creator, it sure makes perfect sense the need to acknowledge and nourish the mind/heart daily as the gateway to our Christ Nature, Love, thereby establishing Heart-centred consciousness as our permanent state.
The human nervous system is God’s greatest creation: our brain/chakras/nervous system are the most advanced in the universe – wow, let us honour that!
The chakras act as receivers for universal energy, each operating at its own frequency of sound and colour and each associated with a specific gland.
Interestingly, the Pope’s Crosier or Staff symbolizes this greatest creation. The Crosier represents “thy rod” or the seven chakras (spinal column) and, the crook, the brain. Scripture therefore is guiding to awaken this divine endocrine structure in the body thus fulfilling “take up thy rod” — scripture is highlighting the Way of Christ consciousness, of conscious immortality.
We’re reminded that Moses threw down his rod in the desert, meaning, let his/her awareness fall from divine to low-life standard — “desert” meaning our lowest or ego-driven periods in life (biblical Egypt or, unredeemed aspect of soul).
The mountain which Mosses ascends in the Bible symbolises [our] highest point of inner awareness in meditation — it’s not a physical mountain. In other words, meditation is the means of “taking up thy rod” thereby receive the Nature of God, Love, on the inner Mount of divine silence. Remember, Moses symbolises you/me, and “thy rod” equates to the seven chakras in the body which, when activated or “taken up” secrete vital growth hormones for the spiritual awakening of the brain and nervous system. Known biblically as [sending of] the Holy spirit or, John the Baptist — meaning, the process of birthing inner Christ nature through our highest point of meditational awareness.
The Pineal gland in relation to “take up thy rod”
The Pineal gland is a mid-brain corridor linking left/right brain hemispheres. Known as the third eye [of the mind], it’s also the third ear [of the heart] which “hears” our mantra in meditation, which, in turn, activates the master Pituitary gland also in the brain, which in turn awakens the 12 Cranial nervous also in the brain — biblically known as the 12 Tribes of Israel, or, 12 qualities of the soul, or, the 12 Apostles.
When Jesus heals the deaf/blind it’s these two vital glands in the brain which become activated allowing us to hear/see spiritually, live heart-centred awareness.
Thus, through meditation, all of scripture’s symbolism is revealed “within” naturally at the practical experiential level through expanded capacity of revelatory understanding.
The Pineal gland is also symbolized as a Pine on the attire of the Swiss guards: the Pope’s dedicated minders. There’s also a bust statue of a Pine in the grounds of the Vatican — I wonder why, for such is never spoken about publicly?
For the mind to have a particular experience, a corresponding set-up must be in place within the nervous system. In other words, for the mind to experience bliss, the nervous system/senses must be cultured in bliss, thus, by watering the root — the mind — we nourish or culture the whole tree [of our life] in bliss blossoming.
The imperative of mankind now is to move beyond sermonizing on fixed historical mind-sets and persuasive belief systems and come into Authentic present time experiential witnessing. Once we know the direction in which the mind must travel for Christ “knowing”, then we should cease behaving as spiritual tourists in our own divine landscape and become Masters of our Promised Land — bliss or Christ consciousness. Realizing such, we come upon a “within” universe of timeless joy, an unending reservoir of peace and creativity awaiting “emergence” into consciousness — the Will of God revealing unto our spiritually awakening Hearts.
What Happens in Meditation:
Meditation techniques generally fall into the following three categories: contemplation (“con”, meaning to join with a “template”: reflect/review), concentration and mantra meditation — inner sound vibration leading to tangible transcendent Truth, which this article is primarily dealing with.
Meditation initially is about deepening the mind’s silence-awareness capacity thus expansion to withstanding greater mental stillness and bliss presence.
At first, on encountering inner silence, incoming thoughts become more noticeable. This is normal. The secret here is in knowing we’re not trying to become thought-less. This cannot be achieved by mental effort — which would be a contradiction — for thought production is a natural function of mind. Rather, no matter what their nature, we simply witness incoming thoughts without engaging their nature, without clicking the links. To this end we use a mantra – a word sound – used simply to still the conscious mind. In other words, when the lake is calm the moon reflects perfectly, when the mind is still Christ or inner Being reflects experientially.
Similar to electricity making the whole ocean “live” on contact, consciousness, on contact with the inner silence of mental stillness awakens the Christ within.
To achieve this status in meditation the respiratory system reduces to a minimum and the mind/nervous system attain natural equilibrium. Being neither active nor passive, the nervous system comes to a state of restful alertness — the vibrational nature of Being. In other words, the whole brain is adapting to its new functioning role of simultaneous existence in relativity and eternality – acclimatization in cosmic consciousness or “full stature” of Christ capacity. A state [of Being] which cannot be experienced through any nature other than Itself, hence, Jesus said: “where I go, you (conditioned ego) cannot come, but I (meditation consciousness) go before thee and prepare the way” (healing of generational conditioning leading to Christ nature).
In meditation we’re not attempting to conquer the senses by effort, rather they surrender willingly to silence, beginning when we close the master sense, the eyes and placing the awareness between the eyebrows.
Like the tortoise, when the five senses of lower-self perception gradually begin withdrawing from the objective, physical world, stress begins to dissolve and the conscious mind assumes a peaceful, calm status. This is how the physiology/nervous system/senses gradually acclimatize to withstand the resulting bliss consciousness in and after meditation and transcendence. It’s this culturing of the nervous system in bliss which transforms our human consciousness into divine nature — the subconscious generational thought patterns or, original sin, encountering healing-forgiveness.
Awakening the Spiritual Brain
In practical terms, soul evolution is sped up consequent of lowering the brain’s oscillations: our spiritual vibration attuning divinely, or, awakening of the spiritual brain. It works like this:
The brain, in meditation, goes from active Beta 14-22 cycles per second, through calming Alpha 7-14 cps to restful Theta brain speed of 4-7 cps. Theta is deeper than normal sleep hence we feel invigorated, renewed and calm after meditation. While Alpha also brings relaxation and healing (the morning waking state and, the play state of children) it’s Theta which vibrates the deep trance state needed for left/right brain harmonization. With regular daily meditation the brain gains the transcendental Delta speed state of 1-3 cps thus representing established Christ or cosmic consciousness.
Initially meditation is noticing when we’ve drifted from our mantra, and, restarting. Every restart is deeper and commences from the drifted level – nothing is lost and benefits are cumulative. Restarting interrupts the ego’s cycle of habitual memory referencing — wanderings in search of sense gratification and verification of its false identity. Like a bee buzzing from flower to flower in search of honey, so too, the lower-self ego wanders in search of happiness of any nature. In this regard, the conditioned ego refuses to entertain silence/stillness, for such represents its demise — its crucifixion on the Mount of meditational Silence.
What the mind is seeking outwardly already exists “within”: bliss, and, bliss lies BETWEEN thoughts – the Gap between one thought and the next. But, the undisciplined mind, in its search for worldly happiness, does not recognize this Gap – Jesus said: “and the world (ego) did not know Him”. This is why, because of ego’s never-challenged dominance some find themselves giving up meditation, saying: “I cannot still the mind” — but, as mentioned earlier, with regular practice, such comes about naturally.
It’s this alternating experience of meditational silence then normal activity after meditation which cultures the physiology: infuses permanent unconditional love/bliss into the conscious mind/nervous system thereby establishing heightened sensory perception in divine awareness. Thus, the mind wanders no more through the junkyard of subconscious conditioning for its pittance of worldly pleasure for such is incompatible with the pure consciousness of our awakening soul.
As spiritual beings, we’re not our thoughts, not the brain rather Spirit enters the brain via [the resurrection] of kundalini life force through the spinal chakra system. As sap is to the tree for growth, so too is kundalini life force to the human anatomy. On flow, kundalini life force prepares the physiology for spiritual Christ healing — biblical John the Baptist.
It’s been said we use about 1/5th of our available mind/brain capacity, thus meditation reclaims this lost subconscious 4/5ths aspect of mind by making it fully conscious. Scripture puts it: “that we come into our full stature” meaning experiential Promised Land or Christ consciousness.
Jesus states: “and the prince of this world calleth and findeth nothing in me”. In other words, His [yours/mine] subconscious/generational conditioning becomes integrated, rendered harmless for future sin-nature activity. Our sins (lower-self conditioning) are forgiven (integrated) — higher and lower-self functioning in total harmony with Divine Cosmic Law.
